Support Dog Adoption and Rescue. Why go to a dog breeder or pet store to buy a dog when you can adopt?

Cities, Towns, and/or Counties We Serve:

We operate within the New England region.

About Our Rescue Group:

We are a small group of volunteers devoted to rescuing Labrador Retrievers and Labrador Retriever-mixes from overcrowded southern shelters and bringing them safely to forever homes in New England. Without rescue, many of these wonderful Labs would end up euthanized in these shelters.

Donate to Our Rescue Group...

Donations can be sent to North Star via paypal. Please email us for more information.

Come Meet our Pets:

Meet some of the wonderful dogs we have available for adoption here and on our website

Once an adoption application is approved, you will be able to set up a meet and greet with one of our Labs.

Our Adoption Process:

Based on our knowledge of each dog and its temperament, we carefully match adopter preferences to our dogs in need and work to help you find the perfect family companion.
Potential Adopters must complete our Adoption Application and fill out an Adoption Agreement. Our standard adoption fee is $350 and there may be a modest transport adjustment fee for "far north" transports.

Are you ready for a rescue Lab? You should only consider adopting a Lab if you can provide:
-Adequate food, water, indoor shelter
-Regular exercise and socialization
-Routine vet care for health including heartworm and flea/tick prevention
-Patient, consistent training and retraining, as needed
-Lots of affection! And a safe, loving environment.

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a dog or puppy versus getting dogs for sale or puppies for sale from a dog breeder? When someone is breeding puppies, they are creating new dogs who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog or puppy and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale from a puppy breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs who must find homes. So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog or adopt a puppy at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.

English Woods a Suspected Cover for Terror

LYNDHURST, England, Sept. 12 -- Jake, an arthritic Labrador retriever, slept beneath an ancient oak tree in a warm September breeze. Ponies roamed untethered, children kicked pine cones along gravel forest paths, and Edith Jones stood outside her camper wondering how such a tranquil spot had become, according to police, a training ground for terrorists
