Information on Adoption and Fostering

How to Adopt a Rescue Lab
If you are interested in adopting one of our labs, you will need to complete our adoption application. We ask that you are serious about adopting and have interest in a specific lab before completing the Adoption Application.

We will NOT review your application until you are interested in a specific dog. We are all volunteers and have a job and families of our own, in addition to the hours we spend working to re-home the labs. Your consideration for our time is appreciated.
Our approval process normally take 5-7 business days to complete. We will contact the vet and personnel references that you list on the application. To speed the process, we recommend that you notify the people you list to expect our call and to release information to us.

Once approved, you will receive the description and contact information for all of our available labs. Your approval is good for at least 6 months. You can contact the person responsible for the dog of interest and, together, determine if this dog might be right for you. Our goal is to learn as much about the dogs as we can while they are in foster care. This allows us to match each dog up up with the best forever family possible. You will need to coordinate a meeting to go see the dog and, if everything seems fine, take the dog home for a trial period.

Not every dog fits into every home. We understand this, and that is why your approval covers all of our dogs and is good for at least 6 months. If the original dog you were interested in is no longer available or was not a good fit, you can continue to search for that perfect dog. You do not need to fill out a new application for each dog you are interested in. Please keep in mind that we sometimes receive multiple applications in the same day for a specific dog and we do our best to fit that dog with the most appropriate family.

When you look at our Lab List you will notice that we have dogs that are in foster care and we also have dogs that are still with their owner while we help to find them a new home.

All of our foster dogs come with a money back 2-week trial period. If during the 2 weeks, you determine that this dog is not the perfect fit for your household, you contact the foster and return the dog for a full refund. With our owner dogs, we cannot guarantee the 2-week trial period. You should discuss this with the owner to see if they are able to provide a trial period.

Our Adoption fee is $225.00 for LELRR fostered dogs. This is payable in cash or U.S. Postal Money order.
