Support Dog Adoption and Rescue. Why go to a dog breeder or pet store to buy a dog when you can adopt?

About Our Rescue Group:

Lone Star Labrador Retriever Rescue (Lone Star Lab Rescue) is a non-profit, all volunteer organization dedicated to preventing the needless destruction of Labrador Retrievers in the DFW/Dallas/Fort Worth area by: rescuing them from shelters providing sanctuary for them in temporary foster homes providing appropriate medical care (including spaying and neutering) finding responsible and loving permanent homes for them. Lone Star Labrador Retriever Rescue will, when possible, assist Good Samaritans who have found stray Labradors and will also assist owners, who for a wide variety of reasons, feel they must find a new home for their Labrador. Lone Star Labrador Retriever Rescue is also committed to educating the public about responsible dog ownership. We believe that responsible pet owners spay or neuter their animals, keep them on an annual vaccination program, provide heartworm and flea preventative on a year round basis, provide basic training, and maintain their dogs as “inside” members of the family rather than as “outside” yard dogs. All of our members and volunteers have one thing in common: They all love labs! If you would like to volunteer to help save endangered Labs, please email us at

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a dog or puppy versus getting dogs for sale or puppies for sale from a dog breeder? When someone is breeding puppies, they are creating new dogs who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog or puppy and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale from a puppy breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs who must find homes. So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog or adopt a puppy at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.

There is no such thing as a Silver Lab.

Terms such as "golden", "silver", "blue", "white" or "grey" as variants are not recognised. The term "Golden Labrador" has been used both as an incorrect term for yellow labradors of a golden shade,[26] and also for any Labrador-Golden Retriever crossbreed of any colour, including black.[27] White is a light shade of yellow (officially referred to as 'light cream' or 'pale yellow' in the standard),[10][28][29] and silver is either not recognised or registered as chocolate (though regarded as a major fault and not up to confirmation).[20][10] Claims that some "rare" variants exist or have been verified by DNA testing, or the like, are widely considered to be a 'scam'.[10][30]
